The National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) is a national-level scholarship program that provides scholarships to class X students. Thus, students acquire admission to the top colleges and seek jobs in top and prestigious companies.

- Class X students participate in the NTSE examination. The mode of examination is offline, and there is no online mode to take this examination. The NTSE examination is conducted in both the languages English and Hindi. It contains multiple-choice questions only.
- In the NTSE examination, students must do the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Ability Test (SAT). MAT & SAT both contain 100 questions of 120 minutes.
- The Mental Ability Test contains verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions in Stage I.
- In Stage II, the Mental Ability Test contains questions from Science, Math, and Social Science.
- The Stage I Scholastic Ability test contains 40 questions each from social science, science, and math.
- Stage I Scholastic Ability test contains Social Science, Science, and Math questions—40 questions from Social Science and Science and 20 questions from Mathematics.
- The NTSE examination has no negative marking; students receive a +1 mark for every correct answer.
- The qualifying marks in the NTSE examination are 40% for General students and 32% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD.
NTSE examination is conducted at 2 levels:
NTSE examination is conducted at two stages. First, it will be conducted at state level and second it will be conducted at national level. The conducting body of these two stages are different which are listed below:

Eligibility Criteria for NTSE Scholarship
Students who live in India or outside can give the NTSE examination. But for this they both have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

| Candidate must be an Indian citizen. | Candidates whom cleared the Stage I NTSE examination. |
- Candidate must be secured 60% (Gen) & 55% (SC/ST/PWD) in the Class IX examination.
- Candidate must be studying in the recognized school.
- Candidate whom studying in ODL program must 18 years below age as on July 1.
- ODL candidates must not be employed when they giving Class X examination.

• Students have to prepare from the coursebook of their class 9th & 10th.
• Students must study the subjects from which the questions came in the NTSE examination, such as English, Science, Mathematics, General Knowledge, Mental Ability, and Social Science.
How to Check the NTSE Result?
Students follow these steps to check their NTSE result scores:
Step 1: Open the official NCERT website.
Step 2: Find out the “NTSE 2024” section and click it.
Step 3: Search for the link shown as “NTSE Result 2024” and click it.
Step 4: Students complete the result list, and the merit list is available.
Step 5: Find your name or roll number in that list.

Reservation For NTSE Examination
SC/ST/OBC/PWD get reservation for the NTSE examination. It is distributed among them as follows:

- They take up their studies to the doctorate level for Sciences & Social Sciences & to the second-degree level subject for Medicine & Engineering discipline.
- If they don’t get employed anywhere part-time or full-time after taking this scholarship,
- If they do not fill out forms for other scholarships simultaneously.

The fees for the NTSE examination are free when students apply through the official website. But if they apply through the state, they might be charged.
